NIFA Announces $5.7 Million Investment in Pollinator Health

NIFA recently announced the allocation of over $5.7 million in funding for 10 projects under the Pollinator Health: Research and Application program. This initiative aims to support projects that enhance the health of pollinators in agricultural settings, where their importance for pollination services is on the rise and where there has been a noticeable decline in pollinator populations.

The grants awarded are part of NIFA’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI A1311). The recipients of the funding include Agricultural Research Service, Colorado State University, Indiana University, Mississippi State University, University of California, Irvine, University of Georgia, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Villanova University.

Each of these institutions will be conducting research and implementing programs to promote the well-being of pollinators in agricultural systems. This funding is crucial in addressing the challenges faced by pollinators and ensuring their continued existence and contribution to our food systems.
