Nile fever diagnosis: My daughter makes history as first girl

Dalia, a mother whose daughter studies in the Green Village area, suspects that her daughter was bitten there and contracted a virus. In an interview with Mako Health, Dalia shared that her daughter was the first suspected case of the disease in Israel this year. The girl had unusual symptoms, including a fever and severe pain in the back of her head, which prompted them to visit the doctor.

After the doctor initially dismissed it as just a virus, Dalia’s husband called her to report that their daughter had developed a widespread rash on her face. Concerned about the possibility of dengue fever, caused by a tick bite, they immediately went to the emergency center. Blood tests revealed a very low amount of white blood cells, leading them to be referred to the hospital for further testing.

At Ichilov hospital, the girl underwent more blood tests, including a serological test, and started treatment for dengue fever as a precaution. The hospital is now awaiting the results of another serological test to confirm the presence of the virus. Dalia remains anxious but is grateful for the medical care her daughter is receiving.

She emphasizes the importance of being vigilant about symptoms and seeking medical attention if anything seems concerning. The family is hoping for a speedy recovery for their daughter and urges others to be aware of the potential risks associated with tick bites and viruses in the area.
