The first-ever two-day NBA Draft took place this week, fulfilling the dreams of 58 basketball prospects who were selected by franchises hoping to build their rosters for the future. While there was celebration for those chosen, there was also disappointment for those players who went undrafted. Players like Justin Edwards from Kentucky, Trey Alexander from Creighton, and PJ Hall from Clemson, who were key players on successful college teams, did not hear their names called on draft night.

For those who went undrafted, it can be a tough pill to swallow, but it also gives them the opportunity to determine their own path in the league. Undrafted players often receive multiple offers as free agents and can choose a team where they believe they have the best chance of earning a roster spot. Some undrafted players this year signed two-way contracts with teams, while others will showcase their skills in the NBA’s Summer League to try and earn a spot on a roster.

Among the notable undrafted players this year were Justin Edwards, Trey Alexander, PJ Hall, Keshad Johnson, Jalen Bridges, and others who were highly ranked on draft boards but ultimately went unpicked. These players will now have to prove themselves in other ways to earn a shot at playing in the NBA.
