Curtis Edwards, a midfielder who spent much of his career playing in Sweden, has recently joined Notts County. After declining a new deal with National League side Woking, the 30-year-old decided to make the move. During the last three months of the previous season, Edwards made 17 league appearances for Woking upon his return to English football after spending nine years in Scandinavia.
Having come through Middlesbrough’s youth teams, Edwards left for Sweden in 2015. He played for Ostersund under fellow Englishman Graham Potter and later Djurgarden before moving on to Norway to feature for Stabaek. Notts County board member Richard Montague, in charge of recruitment, commended Edwards for his solid performances at a high level during his time in Scandinavia. Montague also highlighted Edwards’ quality display at Woking earlier in the year.
Montague praised Edwards’ versatility in various midfield roles, which provides Notts County with more flexibility and depth. He described Edwards as a fantastic technician who is hardworking and mobile on both sides of the field. With his experience and skills, Edwards is expected to make a significant contribution to Notts County’s squad.
