Novant Health has announced layoffs at multiple locations in North and South Carolina. The Indian Land, SC location will be laying off 90 employees, effective August 25, 2024. Additionally, the facility in Winston-Salem, NC will be laying off 81 employees on the same date. Various positions including analytics developers, data engineers, and software developers will be affected.

According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice, the employees impacted by the layoffs are not represented by a union. They received a 60-day notice prior to the layoff date. Novant Health stated that these changes are part of a new IT model for their Digital Products and Services (DPS) team, which involves transferring some services to external partners.

The shift to Deloitte Digital will reduce the use of other external partners by more than 90 percent and allow Novant Health to continue investing in creating a healthier future for the people and communities they serve. Less than 300 team members, which is less than 0.8% of the nearly 40,000 positions across the health system, are impacted by this change. Some team members may have the opportunity to join external partners or transition to roles within Novant Health.

For those team members who are not able to transition, Novant Health is providing resources to ease the transition and expressing gratitude for their service to the organization and its patients.
