This week, Novant Health locations across North and South Carolina announced layoffs. On June 25, 2024, Novant Health at 6237 Carolina Commons Drive in Indian Land, SC, shared news of laying off 90 employees, effective on Aug. 25. In Winston-Salem, Novant Health’s facility at 101 North Cherry Street is set to lay off 81 employees, with the layoffs also expected to occur on Aug. 25. Positions impacted by the layoffs include analytics developers, data engineers, and software developers, with employees receiving a 60-day notice. It’s worth noting that these employees are not represented by a union.

Novant Health shared a statement with Queen City News regarding the recent layoffs. In 2023, Novant Health announced a new IT model for its Digital Products and Services (DPS) team. Some DPS services were transferred to an external partner, and additional DPS functions are now being shifted to Deloitte Digital. This move will reduce Novant Health’s use of external partners by more than 90 percent, allowing the organization to invest more in creating a healthier future for the communities it serves.

Due to these changes, some DPS team members will see adjustments in their roles and responsibilities, while other roles are being phased out. Less than 300 team members, or less than 0.8% of the nearly 40,000 positions across Novant Health’s system, will be impacted. Impacted team members may have the opportunity to join external partners or transition to roles within Novant Health. The organization is extending resources to ease the transition for team members who are not able to remain with Novant Health and is grateful for their service to the organization and its patients.
