Oceaneering seeks to improve ocean data capabilities through new technology

Oceaneering International, a company based in Texas specializing in subsea engineering and technology, is looking to enhance its ocean data management and visualization capabilities by integrating technology from a local firm. Terradepth, an Austin-based provider of ocean data management solutions, recently announced that Oceaneering has become a new customer for its Absolute Ocean (AO) technology.

Terradepth’s AO technology allows organizations to manage, analyze, visualize, and share ocean data in near real-time. This immersive geospatial data management platform does not require any prior training, making it efficient and effective for users to navigate complex ocean data. In addition to this integration, Oceaneering has also placed an order with a UK-based company for a next-generation auto-drop piston corer that will save time in subsea geotechnical surveying.

Joe Wolfel, CEO of Terradepth, expressed a warm welcome to Oceaneering into their ecosystem. He highlighted the industry’s recognition of Terradepth’s cutting-edge solutions and emphasized the potential for driving advancements in subsea data management and visualization through this collaboration. Earlier this year, Terradepth launched a project with Italian transmission system operator Terna to explore innovative approaches to surveying the seabed for planning environmentally friendly submarine electrical connections. The first test for Project Odisseo was conducted off the coast near the port of Casamicciola Terme on the island of Ischia, Naples, Italy, using a submarine drone.
