Atalanta have made it official that Charles De Ketelaere is now a permanent member of their team after activating his buy option from Milan. The 23-year-old Belgian forward struggled in his first season with Milan, only managing one assist in 40 appearances. However, he found success at Atalanta under manager Gian Piero Gasperini, playing a key role in their Europa League victory and top four finish in Serie A. De Ketelaere scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 50 matches, showcasing his abilities and proving his worth after a challenging year with Milan.
The terms of De Ketelaere’s transfer were agreed upon last summer when Atalanta paid €3m for his loan. Now, they will pay an additional €22m plus €2m in add-ons to secure him permanently, with a 10% future resale clause included in the deal. Atalanta attempted to negotiate a discount with Milan, but the Rossoneri held firm on their asking price. Despite this, Atalanta is pleased to have De Ketelaere as a permanent part of their squad after his impressive performances during his loan spell.
