Auburn football has an important recruiting weekend ahead with several notable visitors lined up. Among them are Alabama commits Derick Smith and Antonio Coleman, along with priority wide receiver Travis Smith Jr. The surprise addition to the list is four-star linebacker Christian Jones, who has switched gears to schedule an official visit to Auburn instead of his previous plans to visit USC.
Jones, who has not been a major target for Auburn until now, has a strong relationship with newly hired defensive coordinator DJ Durkin from their time together at Texas A&M. He is looking forward to building on that bond during his visit to Auburn this weekend. Despite Nebraska being the current favorite to land Jones, Auburn has a chance to make a strong impression on the highly-ranked linebacker.
Jones, who is the top recruit from Nebraska according to various recruiting sites, is ranked as high as No. 7 at his position in the 2025 class and is the nation’s No. 58 overall recruit according to Rivals. With his visit to Auburn this weekend, Jones has the opportunity to see what the Tigers have to offer and potentially reconsider his commitment to Nebraska.
