Ryan Day and the Ohio State football coaching staff are continuing to make changes during the offseason. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Buckeyes are in the process of hiring former OSU graduate assistant Billy Fessler to work as an analyst with the quarterbacks. The recent hiring of Chip Kelly as the new offensive coordinator is likely a factor in this move, as Kelly previously hired Fessler to be the quarterbacks coach at UCLA before taking the job at Ohio State.

Fessler brings a wealth of experience to the role, having coached quarterbacks at Akron from 2022 to 2023 and serving as the offensive coordinator there before joining the Bruins. He also has experience as a graduate assistant at Ohio State from 2020 to 2021. This offseason, Kelly hired Fessler as UCLA’s quarterbacks coach, but his role changed during the staff reshuffling after Kelly’s departure.

Fessler’s background as a former Penn State quarterback adds to his credibility as a coach. Ohio State fans can expect his expertise to benefit the quarterbacks on the team as he joins the coaching staff in Columbus.
