Oklahoma Health Departments Partner with Businesses to Enhance Employee Health and Wellness

Health departments in northeast Oklahoma are working with businesses to enhance the health and wellness of their employees. The Oklahoma State Department of Health is emphasizing the importance of promoting employee health in order to not only improve overall health, but also to help businesses remain successful. The CDC introduced Work@Health in Oklahoma in 2019, providing businesses with tools and resources to establish or enhance health and wellness programs.

Chrissy Swift, a Health Educator at the Rogers County Health Department, highlighted the significance of businesses participating in programs like Work@Health. By showing that they prioritize the well-being of their employees, businesses can use these programs as a resource for employee retention and recruitment. Swift emphasized that having such programs in place demonstrates to employees that their employers care about their health and well-being.

Businesses in district 4 counties, including Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Ottawa, Rogers, Wagoner, and Washington, have the opportunity to participate in a two-day, in-person training program later this month. Interested businesses can contact the Rogers County Health Department for more information on how to get involved in the program. This initiative aims to support businesses in creating a healthy workplace environment and promoting the overall health and well-being of their employees.
