Juan Vicente Perez Mora, a Venezuelan man certified as the oldest man in the world by Guinness World Records in 2022, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 114, as confirmed by officials and relatives. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the news of Perez’s death on social media. Perez held the title of the oldest living man when he was officially recognized by Guinness on February 4, 2022, at the age of 112 years and 253 days. He was a father of 11 children and had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Born in the town of El Cobre in the Andean state of Tachira on May 27, 1909, Perez was the ninth of 10 children. He began working in agriculture at the age of five, helping his father and brothers with tasks such as sugar cane and coffee harvesting. Despite his humble beginnings, Perez went on to become a sheriff who was known for his ability to resolve disputes related to land and family matters. He continued to work in agriculture throughout his life.

Perez’s life exemplified hard work, resilience, and a commitment to his family. His passing marks the end of an extraordinary journey that had spanned more than a century. His legacy will live on through his descendants, who carry on his spirit and values.
