Latch Inc. has announced its plans to acquire HelloTech, Inc., a technology support company. This acquisition is part of Latch’s efforts to expand its smart lock system for multi-unit residences. Through Latch, users can access various areas without a physical key, relying instead on phone access or passcodes. The company will be rebranded as Door, with the Door app launching on July 4th. HelloTech will serve as the basis for Door Services, which will allow users to hire local service providers such as dog walkers or cleaners who already work in their building.
HelloTech provides technology installation and support through a network of over 2,500 agents nationwide. The company offers services such as setting up smartphones, improving smart home technology, enhancing connectivity, boosting WiFi networks, and installing TVs. By integrating HelloTech’s expertise, Door will offer end-to-end solutions for residents to easily book service providers for their home electronics. Micah Stone, chief growth officer for Latch, will become the president of Door Services after the acquisition is complete.
The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2024. HelloTech, founded in 2014 and based in Los Angeles, will join forces with Latch to provide comprehensive service solutions to residents across the country. Last year, Latch relocated its headquarters to Olivette, where it operates from a 48,000-square-foot facility at 1220 North Price Road.
