Olympians Progress to Next Round at Innsbruck World Cup

The IFSC World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria attracted nearly 300 climbers competing in both the boulder and lead disciplines. Many of these climbers were fresh from Paris 2024 qualification, while others were headed to the Olympics. Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Alberto Ginés López was among the climbers in action, having secured his ticket to Paris 2024 through the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) process.

After qualifications and semis, Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret advanced to finals in first place. Garnbret expressed her excitement about competing in Austria, stating that she felt great heading into a competitive week in Innsbruck. She mentioned that the atmosphere is always amazing at these events, especially with both Boulder and Lead competitions taking place in just a few days. Garnbret saw these competitions as her last before Paris and was eager to prove that she was on the right track.

Several Olympics-qualified climbers, such as Oriane Bertone, Oceania MacKenzie, and Ai Mori, also advanced to semis. Results from the event were available to follow, and information on how to watch was provided. Notably, this was Fanny Gibert’s 54th Boulder World Cup and Jakob Schubert’s 56th Boulder World Cup.
