Trey Cunningham, a US 110m hurdler, is aiming to qualify for his first Olympic team, two years after winning a silver medal at the World Championships in Oregon. In an interview with World Athletics Inside Track during a training session, Cunningham shares his thoughts on the upcoming Olympics in Paris and his approach to living without regrets.

Cunningham begins by discussing his master’s thesis, which focused on how personality can predispose individuals, especially athletes, to burnout. He reflects on his own experience with burnout and how he learned to navigate through it. Cunningham has always been intrigued by the brain and human connections, which led him to explore these topics in his thesis.

For Cunningham, the Olympics represent the next challenge that he is determined to conquer. He emphasizes the importance of making the team as a crucial step towards his ultimate goal. While reflecting on his journey so far, Cunningham stresses the importance of living life with no regrets. He believes that by staying true to this principle, he has been able to avoid looking back and wondering “what if?”

As Cunningham continues to train and prepare for the upcoming Olympic trials, he remains focused on his goals and motivated by the pursuit of success. With a silver medal from the World Championships under his belt, Cunningham is determined to push himself further and achieve his dreams on the Olympic stage.
