On June 12th, the PA Department of Health Will Host Potassium Iodide Tablet Distribution Event

Officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Health are encouraging residents near the Beaver Valley Power Station to replace their expiring potassium iodide tablets. The state organization is offering free tablets at various locations across the state as many supplies distributed by public health agencies are reaching their expiration dates.

Locally, residents living near the nuclear power plant in Beaver County can get their free supply of potassium iodide tablets from the Beaver Valley Mall’s Center at the Mall on June 12 from 2 to 7 p.m. Acting Secretary of Health Debra Bogen emphasized the importance of keeping medications up to date to protect health, especially in the rare event of radiological emergencies.

The department stated that the tablets will be available to all Pennsylvanians who live or work within 10 miles of the state’s four active nuclear power plants. Residents can visit the distribution center at the Beaver Valley Mall or call the Department of Health at 1-877-PA-HEALTH to receive the tablets or exchange expiring products for safe disposal.

No appointments are necessary to pick up tablets or exchange them at the June 12 event. This initiative aims to ensure that residents are prepared in case of emergencies and have access to necessary resources.
