On Friday night, the Jamestown Tarp Skunks faced off against the Auburn Doubledays in a perfect Collegiate Baseball League West game at Falcon Park. Paul Catalano managed to get the only hit of the game for the Tarp Skunks, singling from one out in the second inning. The Doubledays’ pitchers were able to shutout the Tarp Skunks 7-0, allowing only six strikeouts, one walk, and Catalano’s hit.
Jack Conley threw six innings for the Doubledays, allowing one hit and recording two strikeouts, resulting in his third win and first loss. Joseph Gleason pitched the final three innings, striking out four and allowing no hits on one walk. Auburn was able to score four runs in the fourth inning from Jamestown pitchers Will Sachsenmeyer and Tony DeLawrence. The Doubledays added one run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth from DeLawrence.
Sachsenmeyer was defeated by the Tarp Skunks, throwing 1/3 of the third inning, allowing four hits, two runs, and one strikeout. DeLawrence allowed three hits, five runs (four earned), and four walks in two 1/3 innings. Evan Berta allowed one hit, one walk, and two strikeouts in 1/3 inning, and Luc Fuller pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and two strikeouts.
Bobby Stan had a 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for Auburn, and Harrison Campi had a 2-for-4 with 1 RBI. Hazel Martinez and Michael Hooley each added doubles to help secure the win. Jamestown will face off against the Geneva Red Wings at Dieslick Park at 6:30 PM on Saturday.
