Orbán and associates unveil the creation of a conservative coalition

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recently announced plans to form a new political alliance called “Patriots for Europe” with allies from Austria and the Czech Republic. Orbán believes this alliance will quickly become dominant among the ranks of the European right. He made this announcement in Vienna, where he was joined by the chairman of the Austrian “Freedom” party, Herbert Kickl, and the former prime minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babis.

Orbán’s Fidesz party has been the dominant force in Hungarian politics since 2010. However, the party has faced isolation after leaving the EPP group in the European Parliament in 2021. Orbán and his allies are hoping that the formation of this new alliance will strengthen their position on the European political stage.

The new alliance aims to bring together right-wing political parties from different European countries to counter the influence of Brussels and promote a more nationalist agenda. Orbán believes that by joining forces with like-minded leaders from Austria and the Czech Republic, they can challenge the status quo and assert their vision for the future of Europe.

Orbán’s announcement has sparked both excitement and concern among European leaders. Some see the formation of this alliance as a positive step towards a more unified and assertive European right, while others worry about the potential consequences of further polarization within the EU. Only time will tell what impact this new alliance will have on the European political landscape.
