Orlando Museum of Art is opening its doors for free later this month as part of the Access for All program, providing an opportunity for local art enthusiasts to enjoy free admission. The event, held in partnership with Orlando Science Center and Enzian Theater, takes place every third Thursday of the month. Each event features live performances, guided tours, and collaborations with local arts organizations.
This month’s Access for All event, scheduled for Thursday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., will cater to cinema connoisseurs and science fans. Orlando Science Center will bring STEM-centric Family Nights to the museum, while Enzian Theater will offer a free screening of the 1962 black-and-white sci-fi film, La Jetée, as part of their La CinOMAthéque collaboration with the museum. Additionally, the museum will host the Florida Prize showcase featuring new Florida visual artists.
Funded by the Art Bridges Foundation, the Access for All program aims to decrease financial and transportation barriers to art outreach. The Orlando Museum of Art is one of 64 museums participating in the foundation’s pilot program, providing opportunities for all individuals and families to engage with exhibitions and programs. SunRail riders can present their ticket at the museum’s Visitor Information desk to receive complimentary fare to and from the museum from AdventHealth Station to the next Access for All event.
Cathryn Mattson, CEO of the Orlando Museum of Art, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the Art Bridges Foundation and emphasized the importance of creating a space where the arts can be universally enjoyed and experienced.Attendees can subscribe to Orlando Weekly newsletters and follow them on various social media platforms for updates and information about upcoming events.
