The Ottawa County Department of Public Health (OCDPH) has announced a staffing change that will take effect at the end of May. Deputy Health Officer Marcia Mansaray will be retiring on May 31, 2024. Mansaray has been with the department since 2006 and has played a key role in leading the department and community through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting on June 3, Lisa Uganski, the current Health Planning and Promotion Manager, will step into the role of deputy health officer. Uganski has been with OCDPH since 2000 and brings a wealth of experience to her new position. She expressed excitement about the opportunity to continue serving the residents of Ottawa County and helping to lead the department’s efforts in public health.
Mansaray reflected on her time with OCDPH, expressing her love for public health work and the impact it has had on her personally. She mentioned her regret at leaving her colleagues but looks forward to new adventures in her retirement. Uganski expressed gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized her commitment to improving the quality of life for residents in Ottawa County through public health initiatives.
Health Officer Adeline Hambley praised Mansaray’s service to the community and noted her unique qualities of wisdom, empathy, and grace. She also expressed excitement for Uganski stepping into the new role, citing her knowledge, expertise, and passion for serving the community. The department is confident that Uganski will continue to uphold the high standards of public health in Ottawa County.
