The owner of Angelic Monuments, Elena Moreno, was arrested again on new charges according to court records. She is facing a second-degree felony charge of theft between $30,000 and $150,000. San Antonio police executed an arrest warrant for Moreno, who was released on a $35,000 bond the same day.
This is not Moreno’s first run-in with the law. In March, she was arrested after a family reported writing a check for a headstone that was never delivered. Moreno cited COVID-related delays, but failed to provide the headstone within the promised timeframe. When the family tried to contact her, she was unresponsive. Other families who purchased headstones from Moreno also reported similar issues.
Despite efforts to reach Moreno through various means, she did not respond. In total, 12 people came forward to report that they gave money to Moreno for headstones they never received, totaling $40,000.
It is important to note that this situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
