Pitt senior defensive end, Dayon Hayes, was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his impressive performance in the Panthers’ 24-16 win over Boston College. In the game, Hayes collected six tackles, three tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks, and two deflected passes, with his TFLs resulting in 15 yards in losses.
Hayes played a key role in the defensive effort that held Boston College’s top rushing attack to 154 yards, more than 48 yards below their average of 202.5 yards per game.
So far this season, Hayes has accumulated 40 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries, four sacks, and a forced fumble. He is leading the team in TFLs and hurries, and ranks second in sacks. This is his second career ACC Player of the Week award, with his previous honor coming from his three-sack performance at Miami in November 2022.
In the upcoming game against Duke, Hayes and the Panthers will look to continue their strong performance. The game will kick off at noon on the ACC Network.
