UT Health San Antonio has made it easier for students, faculty, staff, and community partners to volunteer through its community engagement platform, UT Health San Antonio ENGAGED. This platform allows users to track their volunteer hours and choose from a variety of community partners to work with. With over 10,000 members of the UT Health San Antonio community already able to access the platform, volunteering has never been more accessible.
The institution has curated a list of community partners for potential volunteers to choose from, making it easier for them to find an organization that aligns with their interests. For example, those interested in personal health may be drawn to Work Out Help Out (WOHO), a nonprofit organization that promotes volunteering and personal health through fun weekend events that include exercise, community service, and healthy eating.
The ENGAGED platform automatically records volunteer hours at no cost, helping the university fulfill its mission of community engagement. To get involved with a community partner, users can visit the ENGAGED website and select the “Community Partners” tab to explore organizations associated with UT Health San Antonio. From there, they can view upcoming events and volunteer opportunities and track their volunteer hours by adding impact through the platform.
Those interested in volunteering through the ENGAGED platform can reach out to the project administrator, Cindi Adcock, for more information about how it works and how it can help serve the community. It is recommended that volunteers wear a UT Health San Antonio T-shirt to show pride in the institution when participating in volunteer activities.
