Patrick Cantlay, ranked 8th in the world, pulls out of John Deere Classic

Patrick Cantlay has withdrawn from this week’s John Deere Classic, as announced by the PGA Tour on social media. The reason for his withdrawal was not provided, and he has been replaced in the field by Russell Knox. Cantlay had been included on the initial full-field list for the tournament, marking his tournament debut at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Despite being ranked as the world No. 8, Cantlay has not won a Tour event since August 2022. However, he did finish tied for third at the U.S. Open and tied for fifth at the Travelers Championship in his two most recent starts.

In addition to Cantlay’s withdrawal, the Tour also announced a few other field changes for the John Deere Classic. Taylor Montgomery and Rocket Mortgage Classic champion Cam Davis are out, while Marty Dou and Cody Gribble have been added to the field. The adjustments to the field add a new layer of competition and excitement to the upcoming tournament at TPC Deere Run.
