The Patriots announced on Thursday that they have signed rookie receiver JaQuae Jackson. In a corresponding move, the team has cut first-year receiver T.J. Luther. Jackson originally signed with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers on April 30, but was cut by Atlanta on Tuesday. Now, the Patriots are giving him a second chance to prove himself in the NFL.
Jackson played four seasons at California (Pennsylvania) and had a solid performance last season with 22 receptions for 361 yards and one touchdown in 13 games. Luther, on the other hand, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent signed by the Jets in May 2023. He spent most of his rookie season on the New England practice squad after being released by the Jets. Luther played three seasons at Wofford before transferring to Gardner-Webb for his final season in 2022.
It will be interesting to see how Jackson fits into the Patriots offense and if he can make an impact on the field. Luther, on the other hand, will have to find a new opportunity in the NFL after being cut by New England. Both players have potential and it will be exciting to see where their careers lead them in the future.
