The Patriots made some changes to their roster on Tuesday by claiming linebacker Steele Chambers off waivers. In order to make room for Chambers, linebacker Jay Person was waived from the 90-man roster. Chambers had previously been let go by the Lions when they signed linebacker Ben Niemann. The linebacker from Ohio State had joined Detroit as an undrafted player in April and had impressive stats during his time with the Buckeyes.
Steele Chambers had accumulated 207 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, four interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery over the last three seasons. Jay Person, another undrafted player this year, had played college football at Appalachian State and Chattanooga before trying to make a mark in the professional ranks. It will be interesting to see how these roster changes affect the Patriots moving forward in the upcoming season.
