When a big-time sports trade happens, the focus usually centers around the players involved. They will be moving to new teams, cities, locker rooms, and sometimes even countries. However, trades not only impact the players but also the lives of their loved ones. Families can be uprooted by offseason or midseason moves, which can be particularly challenging for those with children, pets, and significant others with careers of their own.

This was the case for former Pelicans player Larry Nance Jr., who was traded to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a deal for Dejounte Murray. This sudden move meant that Nance and his teammate Dyson Daniels would be relocating to Atlanta before the start of the 2024-25 season. His wife, Hailey, shared in a humorous post on X (formerly known as Twitter) how the trade disrupted their kids’ bedtime routine, with Nance having to handle several phone calls while trying to help out with bedtime.

Nance will be joining the Hawks for his fifth team in 10 seasons played when the season starts. In his last season with the Pelicans, he averaged 5.7 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 61 games. With solid shooting percentages across the board, he will be a valuable addition to a Hawks team that is still figuring out its roster after the NBA Draft.
