Five Central Illinois businesses were honored by the Illinois Office of Tourism at an awards breakfast held at Black Band Distillery in Peoria. The event marked the induction of the 2024 class of the Illinois Made Program, which recognizes and promotes local businesses that are uniquely Illinoisan.

Among the businesses that received awards were Yordy’s Turkey Farm, Four30 Scones, Bear’s Bites, CxT Roasting Company, and George’s Shoe Shine. Yordy’s Turkey Farm and George’s Shoe Shine were recognized for operating for 90 years or more.

Representatives from each business expressed their gratitude as they accepted their awards. Mitchell Popadziuk of CxT Roasting Company highlighted the importance of community and supporting local partners and employees in owning a business.

George’s Shoe Shine received a standing ovation when they were presented with their award. Owner George Manias, who has been in the shoeshine business since 1946, invited attendees to visit him at his shop.

The awards presented at the breakfast took the form of colorful plates, symbolizing the unique contributions of each business to the local community and economy.
