Peru’s Ministry of Culture partners with video game companies to strengthen industry development

The Culture Ministry (Mincul) and the Associated Video Game Companies of Peru (CVA) recently signed a framework agreement for inter-institutional collaboration aimed at promoting the development and growth of the video game industry in the country. The agreement, signed on June 26, outlines guidelines for collaboration between the parties to support academic training, capacity building activities, and the exchange of strategic information.

During the signing ceremony, key figures in the video game industry in Peru, including Mateo Alayza, Luis Wong, and Jennifer Semeler Meignen, shared their experiences representing Peru at international festivals, discussed their latest projects, and highlighted the growth achieved in the industry. This agreement marks a significant milestone for the video game industry in Peru, coming more than two decades after the first video game developer was established in the country.

The Associated Video Game Companies of Peru, established in 2014, serves as a trade organization that brings together major companies in the video game development sector in Peru. The CVA’s mission is to foster business development, training, and growth in the video game industry, while also representing the interests of its members and the developer community to both public and private entities. The industry has progressed rapidly, with the release of acclaimed games like “Dicefolk,” “Tunche,” “Arrog,” and “Imp of the Sun” showcasing Peru’s talent on the international stage.

This agreement signifies a collaborative effort to propel the video game industry in Peru to new heights by leveraging expertise, training initiatives, and shared resources. It highlights the commitment of both Mincul and the CVA to support and nurture the burgeoning video game industry in Peru for continued success and innovation.
