Peyton Manning, the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback, was known for his iconic “Omaha!” call during NFL games, signaling a play change to his offensive line. Manning returned to Omaha, Nebraska for the third time to support his alma mater, Tennessee, at the College World Series. The Vols defeated Florida State in their first game at Charles Schwab Field on Friday.

Manning considers Omaha a second home, where people are kind to him. He mentioned that his son also plays in a youth baseball tournament in Omaha around the same time as the College World Series. Manning expressed his excitement at being able to watch his son play in the morning and then seeing his alma mater compete in the evening. He praised Omaha for its incredible atmosphere and felt honored to be there.

During the game, Manning had positive words for Vols coach Tony Vitello, noting his impressive track record of consistently winning 50 games per year since 2018. Manning highlighted Vitello’s ability to inspire his players to give their best on the field. Despite attending previous Tennessee games in 2021 and 2023, both resulting in losses, this time the outcome was different with a thrilling 12-11 win over Florida State.

As a legendary quarterback for Tennessee, Manning is revered for his exceptional record of 39-6 as a starter, holding the school’s touchdown passes record at 89 and the passing yards record at 11,201. The Colts drafted Manning as the No. 1 overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft. His once iconic “Omaha!” play-call has now become a production company owned by Manning.

Manning’s production company, Omaha Productions, partnered with ESPN in 2021 to create the popular “Manningcast,” where he and his brother, Eli, provide live game analysis on “Monday Night Football.” ESPN recently renewed its deal with Omaha Productions through 2034. Manning’s successful career on and off the field continues to make an impact in the world of sports and entertainment.
