In a recent ranking by Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus, all 32 projected starting quarterbacks in the NFL were ranked, with Jarrett Stidham/Bo Nix at the bottom of the list. Russell Wilson, who now plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was ranked at No. 22 after being cut by the Broncos earlier in the year.
The Broncos situation seems to be challenging, with Sikkema pointing out that they are faced with having to choose between inexperience and non-production at the quarterback position. Nix, the Broncos’ No. 12 overall pick, is expected to be the starter at some point, but that might not happen immediately. On the other hand, Stidham’s performance in the NFL has been subpar so far, with very few standout moments.
Nix’s experience and efficiency at Oregon could potentially help him make a quick impact, although transitioning from college to the NFL might present some challenges. Additionally, Zach Wilson, who was acquired by the Broncos through a trade, will also be competing for the starting quarterback position. However, Wilson struggled during his time with the New York Jets, which adds another layer of uncertainty for the Broncos.
Overall, it appears that coach Sean Payton will have his work cut out for him as he navigates the quarterback situation ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
