The Steelers made a new addition to their offensive backfield by signing running back Jonathan Ward to their 90-man roster after he tried out for the team at their rookie minicamp. Ward received a one-year contract, but no other terms have been announced as of yet. Last season, Ward played in seven games for the Titans and rushed three times for 11 yards while mostly contributing on special teams. He split the 2022 season between Tennessee and Arizona after spending his first two NFL seasons with the Cardinals.
In Pittsburgh, the top two returning backs are Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. In addition to Ward, the Steelers also signed Cordarrelle Patterson as a free agent. With the new additions to the backfield, the Steelers are looking to strengthen their running game for the upcoming season. It will be interesting to see how Ward will fit in with the team and what contributions he will make on the field alongside Harris, Warren, and Patterson. The competition in the backfield will likely be fierce as the Steelers look to build a solid running game for the season ahead.
