This interactive dashboard provides access to the latest and historical results of EFSA’s Horizon Scan activities against plant pests that may pose a threat to the territory of the European Union. The tool is divided into three sections for easy navigation and information retrieval.
The first section focuses on emerging pests and provides a visual representation of unregulated pests on a world map. This section highlights pests that have been detected and pose new threats, such as being discovered in new invaded areas or affecting new hosts. The interactive map allows users to explore the distribution and spread of these pests.
The second section is dedicated to priority pests, which are the top 20 pests regulated in the EU. These pests are given special attention as they are deemed as “priority pests” based on the number of instances they have been encountered. Member States carry out public information campaigns, annual surveys, contingency plans, simulation exercises, and action plans to effectively manage and control these pests.
The final section is a newsletter search engine, where users can search for specific information included in published newsletters. Users can select the pest name, family, level of regulation, and monitoring score known as “PeMoScoring” to narrow down their search. The dashboard is regularly updated after each monthly newsletter publication, ensuring users have the most up-to-date information at their disposal.
