PM Modi calls Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rahul Dravid to congratulate them on T20 World Cup win

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone call with the Indian cricket team following their victory over South Africa by 7 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. During the conversation, PM Modi congratulated captain Rohit Sharma for his outstanding leadership and praised the veteran batsman’s T20 career. He also commended Virat Kohli for his performance in the final match and his overall contribution to Indian cricket. Notably, both Kohli and Sharma have announced their retirement from T20 cricket after this win.

PM Modi also recognized Hardik Pandya for his economical last over in the match and praised Suryakumar Yadav for his crucial catch of David Miller in the penultimate over. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude towards head coach Rahul Dravid for his role in Indian cricket, as Dravid’s tenure as head coach ended with the conclusion of the T20 World Cup.

The phone call from PM Modi came after he posted a video message on his X (formerly Twitter) account, thanking the Indian cricket team on behalf of 1.4 crore Indians for not only winning the World Cup but also capturing the hearts of the nation. He congratulated the team for their undefeated run in the tournament and appreciated their performance against top teams. The Prime Minister expressed his pride in the team’s achievement and congratulated them once again.

Additionally, 3.6 Crore Indians visited a platform to explore the latest updates on the General Election Results in a single day. It was stated as India’s undisputed platform for election results, showcasing the interest and engagement of millions of Indians in the democratic process.
