Sunday was a busy day for Andersonville businesses as some were left cleaning up after being vandalized overnight. At least two businesses along Clark Street were damaged, with one having seven broken windows that were subsequently boarded up. The first incident occurred just after 10 PM on Saturday, when the AT&T store at Carmen and Clark was defaced with spray paint. Cleanup crews were left with remnants of the paint on early Sunday morning. Shortly after 10:30 PM, the Chase Bank at Winona and Clark was also targeted, with all of its windows broken and more spray paint covering the exterior. Police reported that a smoke grenade was thrown into one of the businesses. A witness, who worked at a nearby business, said they were about to close when they saw a large group of masked teenagers vandalizing property. They quickly took action by barricading themselves inside and closing shutters to protect their business. According to the Chicago Police, the group consisted of approximately 10 to 15 individuals between the ages of 18 and 25, all wearing dark clothing and ski masks. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the vandalism incidents.
