Portugal ranked in global technology assessment

Deloitte’s “Fast 500 EMEA” list includes 16 Portuguese companies among the 500 fastest-growing technology companies in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. These Portuguese startups have experienced significant growth, with an average increase of 810 percent over three years. Surprisingly, around 30 percent of the companies that were featured in the first edition of the “Fast 50 Portugal” also made it onto the international ranking.

According to Pedro Brás da Silva, associate partner at Deloitte Portugal, the presence of Portuguese companies in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA 2023 is encouraging. The fact that 32 percent of the companies from the initial Technology Fast 50 Portugal list are now part of the international ranking is a testament to their success. These companies have seen significant growth, with an average increase in employees from 229 in 2019 to 830 in 2022, representing a 262 percent growth rate.

The remarkable 810 percent average growth of these Portuguese companies showcases the impact of innovation, scalable business models, and entrepreneurial capability. It demonstrates that Portugal has the talent and potential to host globally relevant technology companies. Sword Health, Addvolt, and Knok were among the highest-ranked Portuguese companies in the list, showcasing the diverse range of industries that these startups are operating in.

Other Portuguese companies featured in the rankings include Magic Beans, Twistag, Replai, HiJiffy, The Loop Co., Code For All, Mediaprobe, StoneShield – Engineering, Agix – Innovative Engineering, Casafari, Boost: IT, Valuedate.io, and SweetCar. This recognition highlights the growing presence and success of Portuguese startups in the global technology landscape.
