Practice Cancelled by Kansas City Chiefs Due to Player’s Medical Emergency

In Las Vegas, Nevada on February 11, 2024, a Kansas City Chiefs helmet was displayed before Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium. The game was set to take place at this venue.

However, news emerged that the Chiefs had to cancel team practice on Thursday due to a medical emergency involving one of their players. According to multiple reports, a backup defensive lineman on the team suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero provided this information.

The player was quickly taken to the hospital by ambulance and is currently in stable condition. As a result of this incident, practice and media availability for the day were postponed until Friday, as reported by The Athletic.

ESPN’s Adam Teicher identified the player as defensive end BJ Thompson, who was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round last year and is now entering his second year in the NFL.

The Chiefs are wrapping up OTA workouts this week, with mandatory minicamp scheduled to begin next week. The official training camp is set to start in July. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
