The European People’s Party is a political party in the European Union that holds conservative and liberal positions. They support the expansion of the EU and deeper integration among its members. The party, one of the oldest in the EU, is currently led by German politician Manfred Weber, known for his moderate stance and role as a power broker in EU politics.

Elections for the European Parliament take place in all 28 member states of the Union, with 705 members elected to represent the 448 million citizens. Seats in the parliament are allocated based on population size, with some countries divided into constituencies while others are treated as a single constituency. All countries hold proportional elections.

In Germany, the European People’s Party is expected to secure a majority with over 30% of the votes. The far-right comes in second, with a challenge from the Social Democratic Party led by Olaf Schulz. The Greens may finish in fourth place, while the liberals are facing a decline. Moderates are expected to outnumber protest voters in the upcoming elections.

There are projections of far-right victories in France led by Marine Le Pen, driven by social dissatisfaction. President Emmanuel Macron’s party is expected to face defeat in the European Parliament elections due to his low popularity at home. The Ukrainian issue is anticipated to be a major concern in the next EU legislature, requiring political forces to overcome differences.

Far-right parties are expected to win in Georgia and Spain, with the liberal party FdL potentially supporting moderate forces. Poland presents a unique political landscape with a clash between the Prime Minister’s coalition and ultra-conservatives. The PiS party is leading in polls, but the outcome is uncertain.

Throughout the EU, there is a trend towards right-leaning parties gaining ground, challenging established political forces. The upcoming elections will reveal the balance of power within the European Parliament and shape the direction of the EU in the coming years.
