According to Universum’s latest ranking, NASA was ranked as the fourth most ideal employer by US engineering students. Around 1 in 5 students chose Lockheed Martin as their top choice employer, making it the top employer on the list. Other companies that made the top 15 included General Motors, Apple, and Tesla.
Despite a challenging job market, many US engineering students are aspiring to work for companies like Lockheed Martin, GE Aerospace, and Nvidia. Universum, an employer branding specialist, compiled the ranking based on surveys of students conducted from September 2023 to April 2024. Students were asked to name up to five ideal employers, with the rankings reflecting the number of students who chose each company.
The top five companies on the list remained unchanged from the previous year, with Tesla at No. 5 and Lockheed Martin at No. 1. The share of students who identified Lockheed Martin as their top choice employer increased slightly. Below are the top 15 companies on the list, along with the percentage of engineering students who listed each employer among their top five ideal employers.
