Eric Mankin recently stepped down from his position as president of Main Line Health’s Care, a primary care network serving the Philadelphia western suburbs. As a family medicine physician, Mankin was responsible for overseeing 500 physicians and over 200 advanced practice providers, such as nurse practitioners and midwives. He had held this position since 2013, after previously serving as the chief medical officer for Temple Health physician’s group. Mankin’s last day as president was June 30, but he will continue to practice as a primary care physician at the Main Line HealthCare practice in Newtown Square.
Donald Klingen, a family physician who also serves as the system’s chief medical information officer, has taken over as the interim president of the primary care network in Mankin’s absence. This leadership change comes amid other recent transitions at Main Line Health, a nonprofit system that owns four hospitals. Brian Corbett, who had been the system’s general counsel since 2001, announced his retirement last month. He will be succeeded by his deputy, Della Payne, after a transition period. Additionally, Leigh Ehrlich replaced Mike Buongiorno as the chief financial officer of the system, following Buongiorno’s retirement after 25 years of service.
Despite undergoing these changes in leadership, Main Line Health showed an improvement in its financial performance, reporting a $50 million operating loss for the nine months ending on March 31 compared to a $114 million loss during the same period the year prior.
