Prince George’s County has announced a $4.250 million allocation to expand the Health Assures Program, a crucial initiative aimed at relieving the burden of uncompensated care for uninsured patient visits at Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). The program is focused on ensuring that low-cost or free medical, behavioral, and dental care services are easily accessible to eligible uninsured individuals residing in the county.
County Executive Angela Alsobrooks stated, “The Health Assures Program exemplifies our unwavering commitment to improving the health and well-being of Prince George’s County residents. By providing essential health services to those who are uninsured and often undocumented, we are creating a community where every resident has the opportunity to achieve optimal health.” The program aims to address the healthcare needs of uninsured individuals who are ineligible for insurance or government assistance programs, and are living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
The expansion of the Health Assures Program will play a significant role in enhancing access to healthcare services for vulnerable populations in Prince George’s County. This investment underscores the county’s dedication to promoting health equity and ensuring that all residents have access to necessary medical, behavioral, and dental care. By supporting this initiative, Prince George’s County is taking a crucial step towards creating a healthier and more inclusive community for all.
