The weekly newspaper Novosti obtained a video showing four young men getting out of a car with Vukovar license plates and shouting while attacking another car using their hands and feet. The attack took place on November 18, the day of Remembrance Day, in the presence of the police, who did not intervene. The video shows the attackers kicking and punching the car in front of them, as the witness who recorded the attack described the incident.

According to the witness, the attack took place before the roundabout in Nuštra, a little after 10 o’clock in the morning, at the same time that the Column of Remembrance was starting in Vukovar. The witness recounted how a car with Vukovar license plates improperly entered the lane of a car with Serbian license plates, honking and gesturing aggressively. The witness turned on his cellphone camera to capture the attack, which included the tearing off of the rearview mirror by one of the attackers.

The witnesses’ observations also include the police presence at the scene, with a police van and another police car in the immediate vicinity. However, none of the officers intervened or questioned the attackers, and the attackers left the scene without consequences. The witness also stated that the attackers insulted the people in the other car before departing. The driver who recorded the incident gave a statement at the police station in Vinkovci, where he was informed that the victims did not wish to pursue prosecution or a private lawsuit.

The witness expressed frustration with the lack of police intervention, stating that the officers on the scene stood and watched as the attackers got into their car and left. The witness also expressed concerns about the handling of the case by the police and the lack of response from law enforcement regarding the situation.
