The 2024 SDG3 GAP progress report, ‘Aligning for country impact’, focuses on the importance of alignment as the key principle that can lead to greater impact in countries working towards the health-related SDGs. It serves as a basis for further discussions among the 13 signatory agencies on how to enhance alignment and collaboration across various multilateral agencies. The upcoming Independent Evaluation findings in late 2024 will also be crucial in this regard.

This fifth progress report highlights the voices of countries, including their perspectives on development partner alignment and collaborations at the country level. It underscores the need for greater alignment among development partners around national plans, as outlined in the SDG3 GAP monitoring framework, the 2023 UHC Political Declaration, and the 2023 Lusaka Agenda. The report also reflects on lessons learned since the inception of the SDG3 GAP and the actions taken thus far to implement recommendations from the previous year’s report.

The report emphasizes the commitment of the SDG3 GAP to a collaborative way of working, showcasing its successes and the potential for impactful collaborations among countries and development partners. It underscores the importance of effective leadership in both countries and development agencies for these collaborations to thrive.

The SDG3 GAP, titled Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-being for All, aims to promote better health and well-being for all people worldwide. Through alignment and collaboration, the plan strives to achieve the health-related Sustainable Development Goals and improve the overall health outcomes of communities around the world.
