The public health advisory that was put in place in response to a sewer line break in Lenexa has now been lifted. The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment announced that the 21-inch break near W. 81st Street and Nieman Road, which was caused by heavy rain, has been repaired. During the repair process, crews worked to contain sewage flow into the creek by redirecting it around the break and back into the sewer system.

As a precaution, JCDHE advised residents to avoid contact with creek water until water quality tests confirmed it was safe. Recent test results have shown that bacteria levels in the creek have returned to normal, allowing the advisory to be lifted. Residents can now safely enjoy the creek without worrying about potential health risks.
