Qatar Airways named the world’s top airline for 2024, among other leading carriers

Ground crews at the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are busy loading cargo and supplies onto airplanes from airlines such as Lufthansa Group, Emirates, Austrian Airlines, and British Airways on September 11, 2023.

Skytrax, an air transport rating firm, announced that Qatar Airways has taken the top spot as the best airline in the world, overtaking Singapore Airlines. This is the eighth time Qatar Airways has ranked first since 2011, moving up from second place last year. Following closely behind in third place is Emirates, one spot higher than their previous ranking.

The top ten airlines were dominated by Asian carriers, with no U.S. airlines making the cut. Delta Air Lines was the highest-ranked U.S. airline in 21st position, one spot down from the previous year. The rankings, based on a customer survey, included responses from customers in over 100 countries for the 2023-2024 edition.

Qatar Airways, the overall winner, was also named the best business class airline and the top airline in the Middle East. Singapore Airlines, in second place, received awards for the best cabin crew, best first class, and best airline in Asia.

In terms of budget travel, AirAsia from Malaysia was named the best low-cost airline, while Singapore’s Scoot took the title for the best low-cost airline for long-haul flights. Delta Air Lines topped the list for North America, followed by Air Canada, United Airlines, Porter Airlines, and Air Transat.

The top ten best airlines in the world according to Skytrax are Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Japan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, EVA Air, Air France, and Swiss International Air Lines.
