In recent news, Skytrax, the air transport rating firm, announced that Qatar Airways has taken over the title of the best airline in the world, dethroning Singapore Airlines. This marks the eighth time Qatar Airways has claimed the top spot since 2011, after coming in second last year. Singapore Airlines now holds the second position on the ranking, with Emirates following closely in third place, moving up a spot from the previous year.

The rankings are based on a comprehensive customer survey conducted by Skytrax, with participants from over 100 countries in the 2023-2024 edition. The top airlines were recognized for their excellence in various categories, including business class, cabin crew, first class, and regional specialties. Qatar Airways also earned recognition for the best business class and best airline in the Middle East, while Singapore Airlines excelled in areas such as cabin crew, first class, and best airline in Asia.

For travelers on a budget, Malaysia’s AirAsia was named the best low-cost airline, while Singapore’s Scoot received recognition as the best low-cost airline for long-haul flights. In the North America regional category, Delta Air Lines clinched the top spot, followed by Air Canada, United Airlines, Porter Airlines, and Air Transat. Notably, U.S. airlines did not feature prominently in the top rankings, reflecting the prominence of Asian carriers in the industry.

The top ten airlines in the world, according to Skytrax, are as follows: Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Japan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, EVA Air, Air France, and Swiss International Air Lines. These airlines have been recognized for their outstanding service, quality, and customer satisfaction in the aviation industry.
