Quinyon Mitchell, the first cornerback drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round since 2002, signed his four-year rookie contract on Thursday. Mitchell, the No. 22 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has an impressive record with 46 career pass breakups and six interceptions. This ranks him sixth among all corners drafted in the past decade and makes him the most successful cornerback in Toledo’s history.

Eagles Director of Player Personnel, Charles Walls, praised Mitchell’s skills and noted that they translate well to the league. Mitchell’s ability to respond to challenges, finish tackles, and bring energy to his teammates were especially impressive. At Toledo, he made history as the first back-to-back Associated Press All-American in Rockets history. Additionally, he was named a two-time first-team All-Mac player in 2022 and 2023.

Hailing from Williston, Florida, Mitchell had a forced completion percentage of 27.7% last season. This was the highest among all corners drafted in the first round and the second-highest among those invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.

Overall, Mitchell’s performance and impressive stats have positioned him as a promising player for the Eagles. Fans are excited to see what he can achieve in the upcoming season.
