Rai from England ties for the lead at Rocket Mortgage Classic

Aaron Rai had a remarkable second round at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, making seven birdies to share the lead with American Akshay Bhatia at 13 under. The duo are two shots ahead of the field in Detroit, with Rai birdying four out of five holes and finishing strong with two more birdies. Despite having two career wins on the DP World Tour, Rai credits his success to staying on top of the fundamentals and building on his past performances.

Following closely behind Rai and Bhatia are South Africa’s Erik van Rooyen and American trio Cameron Young, Taylor Montgomery, and Troy Merritt, all tied at 11 under going into the third round. Former champion Rickie Fowler is currently on six under after an even-par 72 in his second round. Additionally, three other Englishmen – David Skinns, Callum Tarren, and Harry Hall – made the four-under cut and are still in contention at the tournament.
