Sarah Becker, a former cast member of MTV’s “The Real World” during its fifth season in Miami, has tragically passed away by suicide at the age of 52, as reported by TMZ. Her death occurred last week at her home in Illinois, where she had been caring for her ill mother and sister. It was revealed that Becker had been struggling with her mental health in recent months, but had planned to return to California before her death.
Dan Renzi, a former castmate of Becker, took to Instagram to express his shock and sadness at her passing. He mentioned that he had not been in contact with her since their time on the show in 1996, so he was unaware of her struggles. Renzi reflected on the unique bond formed between the cast members during their time on the show, despite not keeping in touch over the years. He described the situation as very sad.
Flora Alekseyeun, another former castmate of Becker, also shared her condolences on Instagram. She described Becker as the most selfless person she knew, always kind and helpful to others. Alekseyeun expressed her surprise at not being aware of Becker’s internal struggles and offered prayers to her family. She bid farewell to her roommate and friend, wishing her peace and relief from pain in the afterlife.
“The Real World” first aired on MTV in 1992, featuring a group of seven young strangers living together in a major city. Each season showcased a different cast in a different location, providing viewers with a glimpse into their lives and interactions.
