Luka Modrić (38) is nearing the end of his time wearing the Real Madrid jersey, according to the Spanish Sport. He has lost his starting position to English player Jude Bellingham (20) this season, and this may spell the end of Modrić’s time with the team. There have been rumors that he could go to play in Saudi Arabia, where his former teammates are reportedly eager to welcome him. It is said that he could earn an astonishing 120 million euros per season, or a total of 360 million over three years. Real Madrid has also bid farewell to Karim Benzema (35), who has left Madrid for Al-Ittihad.

This season, Modrić has only started in five of the 17 games played and did not play at all in two of them. In terms of minutes played in 15 matches, he ranks fourteenth, with only injured players behind him. Despite reports that Modrić is seeking a new challenge, it seems unlikely that Real will let him go in January, as the club’s top officials have confirmed that they do not offer contracts longer than one year to players over thirty years old. Modrić has certainly been an iconic player for Real Madrid, but it appears that his time with the team may be drawing to a close.
